OUR CULTURE AND HERITAGE PRESERVATION PROGRAMS
TIBETAN LANGUAGE CLASS
Seeds of Tibet offer classes in Tibetan language. The language curriculum includes grammar, writing and spoken Tibetan. Classroom learning includes individual and group instructions, and experienced teachers teach classes.
MUSIC CLASS
Include lessons on musical intruments like
- Dra-Nyen (Tibetan Mandolin)
- Flute, Yang-Chen (Dulcimer)
- Pi-Wang(Erhu)
- Drum
Classes are currently open to only children in the age of 4 – 18 years old.
School hours are every Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
Performing Arts
Seeds of Tibet participate in performing arts program seeks to preserve traditional Tibetan Opera, dance, folk songs, musical instruments, costume making, painting, and woodcarving. The program sims to pass on and promote Tibet’s rich and unique performing arts traditions to younger community members.
field trip
Seeds of Tibet also organize periodical field trips to cultural and education sites in the New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. The trips provide enrichment activities to stimulate our students to explore new horizons, expand creativity, experience Tibetan culture and other cultures, and broaden their base knowledge.
youth development
Seeds of Tibet youth program seeks to empower its members age 11 to 21, through programs and activities that build self esteem, strengthen leadership skills, positively socialize with peers, enhance capacity to make informed and healthier life choices, and promote the ethic of community service.
Youth Mentorship program
The program matches youths in one-on-one relationships relationships with mentors who provide support and guidance. Mentors can encourage their mentee’s self-confidence and self-esteem. They can also help them plan for the future and expose them to higher education and career opportunities.
ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP
Seeds of Tibet organize an annual summer camp in the month of August. The camp will be a three days long events and involve staying overnight at a camp location in the Pocono, Pennsylvania. The camp is meant to be about fun and enjoyment and to provide the members an opportunity to know each other and develop friendships. The camps will feature games, cooking, nature hikes, story telling and other recreational activities. However, these camps will also include workshops and talks related to personal development; skills building; discussions/workshops on topics related to Tibetan culture, history, identity, and spirituality. Camp participants will be asked to pay a registration fee to cover a portion of the camp expenses.
